FSI provides high-performance polyurethane technologies that improve safety and comfort while being easier and more cost-effective to manufacture.

Polyurethane application in the automotive industry: Manufacturing and assembly of car doors with FSI's polyurethane systems automotive lightweighting

Foam systems for maximum safety and comfort

FSI provides a wide range of flexible molded, slabstockstructural rigid, semi-rigid, integral skin foam and RIM elastomer polyurethane systems for parts such as:

  • Seats
  • Headliners
  • Door panel components
  • Knee bolsters
  • Instrument panels
  • Steering wheels
  • Gearshift knobs
  • Armrests and headrests
  • Engine covers
  • Exterior trim
  • Carpet padding

Low-density Ecoflex® and Genflex™ molded, slabstock and integral skin foams can reduce component densities up to 30%, reducing part weight and contributing to improved fuel efficiency to meet CAFE benchmarks.

Ecoflex® and Genflex™ flexible molded and slabstock systems are formulated to meet desired ILD, ball rebound and durometer requirements to improve passenger comfort factors like firmness, elasticity and hardness.

Ecoflex® integral skin foam systems are engineered to achieve ideal part characteristics without subsurface bubbles or voids that compromise end-use. Non-emissive catalysts and surfactants can be added to prevent odor and fogging.

Ecoflex® systems are blown with Ecomate® blowing agent, a zero-GWP formula meeting the most stringent environmental regulations.

Genflex™ flexible molded and slabstock foams are blown with water, which converts to carbon dioxide during foaming as the blowing agent and is also considered a zero-GWP formulation.

Genfoam® high-density rigid foam systems provide void-free surfaces and cores ideal for SRIM, RTM, filament winding and other reinforced composite processes.

ElastoRIM systems are available in a range of flexural modulus for unfilled and glass-reinforced elastomeric parts for OEM and aftermarket trim.

All automotive foam systems from Foam Supplies meet or exceed FMVSS 302 and CAL 117 flammability requirements, assuring passenger safety.

FSI’s global production and distribution network offers flexible delivery in totes, drums, pressurized cylinders or in bulk according to your needs.

Unmatched Regulatory Compliance

Because it is environmentally benign, Ecomate complies with all current — and most likely all future — regulations pertaining to foam blowing agents. As additional HFCs and other harmful materials are phased out, Ecomate will continue to be the reliable and affordable solution for foam blowing applications. Current regulatory compliance includes:

  • U.S EPA SNAP Program
  • Montreal Protocol
  • Kyoto Protocol
  • Kyoto ROHS Protocol (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
  • WEEE Directed (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
  • GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe)
  • REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization)
  • EPA SNAP Approved
